Ventrilo high ping times and packet loss on may 11th
Updated 12 May : 18:09 by dUiF
We experienced high ping times and packet loss on our Ventrilo servers in London, England, this was caused by a rather large DDOS attack. This attack wasn't targeting any of our servers, but it did effect us and other clients with the same provider.

Network Engineering has been able to block the attack and service should get back to normal shortly.

UPDATE: May 12, 2009

For a while the attack in London seemed to have been handled, but now the DDOS Attack has stepped-up in scale, continuing to effect the entire network in London. Network Engineering in London is continuing to fight the attack, but as of this time the attack is very deliberate and not ceasing.

Network Engineering is working diligently to get the attack under control, but unfortunately DDOS attacks are very easy to perform yet very difficult to truly work around in our core business (latency sensitive application hosting). As we receive updates we will update everyone.

UPDATE: May 15, 2009

Network Engineering is still keeping a close eye on the DDOS Attack situation that continues. Should the attack head back to the London network that we are on, we will inform you again

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during this DDOS event.

Server migration
Updated 23 Apr : 23:18 by dUiF
All servers will be taken offline from friday april 24th from approximately 23:00 we expect that the servers will be back online at saturday 04:00.

We will be moving our hardware to another data centre. The new data centre has over the last two years an uptime of 100% and will ensure high-performance network reliability, redundancy, and low-latency.

The migration will not affect any server IP adresses

Update The migration will be delayed 24 hours due to some minor problems which had to be fixed first, our apologies if we caused any inconvenience

Mumble voice servers
Updated 19 Apr : 23:25 by dUiF

We recently installed a Mumble voice server and we are testing it. Mumble is a fairly new voice server with Low-latency, high-quality voice communication for gamers. Includes game linking, so voice from other players comes from the direction of their characters, and has echo cancellation so the sound from your loudspeakers won't be audible to other players.

We will be hosting Mumble voice servers soon and if you rent a gameserver you will get a 10 slot Mumble voice server for free

Half-Life 1 Engine Update Released
Updated 25 Oct : 13:15 by dUiF
Updates to the Half-Life 1 Engine have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Half-Life 1 Engine
Fixed UI crash when running a MOD
Friday 24 October 2008
Steam update, Day of Defeat crashes
Updated 24 Oct : 13:01 by dUiF

There is a reported temporary fix that will prevent your game from crashing. You must add the following command BEFORE joining the game server into your config.cfg . It is as follows:

cl_solid_players 0

You MUST make sure that the server is updated to the latest version. An explanation for this bug is that Valve basically "copied and pasted" Source functionality and variables into the Half Life 1 engine. HL1 cannot handle non-solid player models, compared to DoDource.

If you are still getting the protocol(47) error, then this means the server and/or player have not updated their Steam yet.
